US urges Americans across Middle East to stay alert as Trump and Iran exchange new threats

WASHINGTON — The United States has issued a new security alert for American citizens across the Middle East as tensions with Iran continue to escalate, with President Donald Trump signaling that Washington is prepared to launch additional military strikes and Tehran warning it could target countries hosting U.S. military bases.
The State Department advisory urged U.S. citizens throughout the region to exercise increased caution, closely monitor local security developments and follow instructions issued by U.S. embassies. Officials cited the risk of rapidly changing security conditions following recent military confrontations between Washington and Tehran.
The warning comes as the Trump administration weighs further military action against Iran after a series of attacks on U.S. interests and regional partners. Administration officials have said all options remain on the table if American forces or facilities come under renewed attack.
Iran, meanwhile, has warned that any country allowing its territory to be used for attacks against the Islamic Republic could become a legitimate military target. Iranian officials say U.S. bases and supporting facilities across the region would face retaliation if Washington launches additional strikes.
The exchange of threats has heightened concerns among Gulf nations, many of which host American troops while also seeking to avoid becoming directly involved in a wider regional conflict.
Military analysts say U.S. installations in Bahrain, Qatar, Kuwait, Iraq, Syria and elsewhere in the Middle East could remain on heightened alert as Washington strengthens force protection measures.
Regional governments have also increased security around key infrastructure, airports and energy facilities amid fears that any escalation could disrupt international shipping routes and global energy markets.
Diplomatic efforts to reduce tensions have so far failed to produce a breakthrough, with both Washington and Tehran maintaining hardline positions while continuing to exchange warnings through public statements and indirect diplomatic channels.
The latest advisory underscores growing concerns that the confrontation could expand beyond direct U.S.-Iran exchanges, potentially drawing neighboring countries into a broader regional crisis if military action resumes.
