ISLAMABAD : Efforts to revive negotiations between the United States and Iran remain uncertain, raising questions about the effectiveness of Pakistan’s mediation role amid escalating regional tensions.

Pakistan’s Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar discussed the evolving Middle East crisis with his Kuwaiti counterpart, highlighting continued diplomatic efforts to bring both sides back to the negotiating table.

Talks Stalled Despite Mediation

Despite a ceasefire brokered earlier through Islamabad, direct talks failed to produce a lasting agreement. The situation has since remained fragile, with no clear breakthrough in sight.

While Pakistan has positioned itself as a key mediator, analysts say the lack of progress is putting its diplomatic influence under scrutiny.

Regional Impact Growing

The ongoing standoff has already disrupted global energy markets, particularly after tensions led to the closure of the Strait of Hormuz.

Both Pakistan and Kuwait emphasized the broader economic risks and the need for stability in the region.

Diplomatic Efforts Continue

Kuwait acknowledged Pakistan’s role in promoting dialogue, while both sides agreed to maintain close coordination moving forward.

However, with US–Iran negotiations still stalled, the path to a long-term solution remains uncertain.
