WEST PALM BEACH: Donald Trump said he is reviewing a fresh proposal from Iran aimed at ending the ongoing conflict, but signaled uncertainty over whether it could lead to a deal.
Speaking before boarding Air Force One, Trump confirmed that the proposal’s full details were still being finalised. He later expressed skepticism, suggesting the terms may not be acceptable from the US perspective.
Proposal Delivered via Pakistan
Reports from Iranian-linked media indicate that Tehran has submitted a multi-point plan through Pakistan, which has previously acted as a mediator between the two sides.
The proposal is believed to be a response to an earlier US framework, though official confirmation from Iran’s state media remains limited.
Ceasefire Holds Amid Talks
Despite recent setbacks in negotiations, a ceasefire between both sides has remained in place for several weeks, allowing diplomatic channels to stay open.
Trump had earlier rejected another proposal, but discussions have continued behind the scenes.
Focus on Strategic Waterway
The US president also raised the issue of reopening the Strait of Hormuz, a critical global energy route through which a significant portion of oil and gas supplies pass.
Ensuring stability in the region remains a key priority for international stakeholders as negotiations continue.
