Senate Candidate Rocked by Explicit Text Scandal as Wife Publicly Defends Marriage

A major political controversy is unfolding in Maine after reports revealed that Senate candidate Graham Platner allegedly exchanged sexually explicit text messages with multiple women during his marriage.

The reports gained even more attention after Platner’s wife, Amy Gertner, publicly responded and defended their relationship, describing the growing media attention as “gossip” while acknowledging that marriage can be difficult.

According to multiple reports, Gertner had previously informed campaign officials about messages she discovered on Platner’s phone earlier in their marriage. Campaign aides reportedly reviewed the situation and ultimately treated it as a private matter being addressed through counseling.

In a video posted online, Gertner emphasized that the couple had worked through serious challenges and said their marriage remains strong despite public scrutiny.

The controversy arrives at a critical moment in the Senate race, where Platner has already faced questions over previous online posts and other campaign-related controversies. Despite the latest revelations, he remains one of the most closely watched candidates in a race that could help determine control of the U.S. Senate.
