Canadian drivers are being urged to check their vehicles after a series of major recalls involving more than 80,000 vehicles raised concerns about defects that could increase the risk of crashes.

The recalls affect multiple vehicle brands and involve a range of safety issues, including engine failures, instrument panel malfunctions, display blackouts, and problems that could allow vehicles to move unexpectedly after being parked.

Transport Canada and automakers have warned that some defects could prevent drivers from seeing critical safety information such as speed, warning lights, fuel levels, and system alerts. Other recalls involve engine-related failures that could result in sudden loss of power while driving.

Officials are encouraging vehicle owners to immediately check recall databases and manufacturer websites to determine whether their vehicles are affected and arrange repairs if necessary.

The growing number of recalls highlights ongoing concerns about vehicle software systems, electronic displays, and manufacturing defects as automakers increasingly rely on advanced digital technologies across new vehicle models.
