US President Donald Trump has reacted to the deadly shooting at the Islamic Center of San Diego, calling it a “terrible situation” after three people were killed.

Authorities said two teenage suspects opened fire at the mosque shortly before noon local time. All three victims were adult men, including a security guard, according to police.

San Diego police confirmed both suspects later died from apparent self-inflicted gunshot wounds. Investigators are treating the attack as a hate crime.

The Islamic Center of San Diego, one of the largest mosques in the region, was hosting children inside its school during the violence. Officials said the children were safely evacuated and no students were harmed.

California Governor Gavin Newsom was also briefed on the incident as federal and local authorities continue the investigation.
