US Strikes Iranian Radar Sites After Drone Shootdown as Iran Targets American Forces in Kuwait

The United States and Iran exchanged fresh military strikes over the weekend, raising fears that the fragile diplomatic process between Washington and Tehran could be pushed closer to collapse.

According to U.S. Central Command, American forces carried out what officials described as "measured and deliberate" strikes against Iranian radar systems and drone command-and-control facilities located on Qeshm Island and near Goruk along Iran’s southern coast. U.S. officials said the operation was launched after Iran shot down an American MQ-1 drone that Washington says was operating over international waters.

Iran responded by launching missile and drone attacks toward facilities used by American forces in Kuwait. Kuwaiti air defenses were activated as missiles and drones approached the country, while U.S. officials reported that incoming threats were intercepted and no major casualties were immediately reported.

The exchange comes at a critical moment for the region. Negotiations aimed at preventing a wider conflict are still underway, but both sides continue to accuse each other of violating ceasefire understandings. Iranian officials have also signaled that future diplomacy may depend on developments in Lebanon and broader regional security concerns.

Global markets are closely watching the situation because the confrontation is unfolding near the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world's most important energy corridors. Any further escalation could affect global oil supplies and shipping routes. Oil prices moved higher as investors reacted to the renewed military exchanges.

With both Washington and Tehran demonstrating a willingness to respond militarily while continuing diplomatic contacts, analysts warn that the next few days could determine whether tensions ease or spiral into a broader regional crisis.
