WASHINGTON — The U.S. House of Representatives has approved a sweeping immigration enforcement package that would provide approximately $70 billion in funding through the end of President Donald Trump's current term, significantly expanding resources for border security, detention operations, and immigration enforcement agencies.

The measure also ends a four-month lapse in funding that had created uncertainty for several immigration-related programs and enforcement activities. Supporters argue the legislation will strengthen border security, accelerate deportation efforts, and provide federal agencies with the resources needed to address illegal immigration and asylum backlogs.

House Republican leaders described the package as a major victory for the administration's immigration agenda. The funding is expected to support additional personnel, detention capacity, surveillance technology, transportation resources, and operational support for agencies involved in border enforcement and immigration control.

Democrats and immigration advocacy groups criticized the legislation, arguing that billions of dollars are being directed toward enforcement while insufficient resources are being allocated to immigration courts, humanitarian processing, and long-term immigration reform. Critics warned that the measure could lead to tougher enforcement actions and increased pressure on migrant communities across the country.

The legislation now heads to President Trump, who is expected to sign it into law. Once enacted, the funding package would provide immigration agencies with long-term financial certainty through the remainder of the administration, reducing the likelihood of future funding disputes.

The vote comes as immigration remains one of the most politically charged issues in the United States ahead of upcoming elections. Border security, migrant crossings, and deportation policies continue to dominate national debate, making the bill one of the most significant domestic policy victories for the White House this year.
