WASHINGTON: Donald Trump has announced that the United States will begin efforts to guide stranded vessels safely out of the Strait of Hormuz starting Monday, as tensions continue in the Middle East.

In a statement shared on social media, Trump said the initiative—referred to as “Project Freedom”—aims to assist ships and crews that are not directly involved in the conflict but have been affected by regional instability.

He described the move as a humanitarian effort to support international shipping, noting that several vessels in the area are facing shortages of essential supplies, including food.

Trump emphasized that the operation is intended to ensure safe passage for affected ships, while also signaling that any interference with the process would be addressed firmly.

The Strait of Hormuz remains a critical global shipping route, with ongoing tensions disrupting maritime activity and raising concerns about supply chains and energy markets.
