AT SEA: A virus outbreak aboard the MV Hondius cruise ship has resulted in three deaths, with several additional cases under investigation.

Health authorities have confirmed at least one case of hantavirus, a rare infection typically associated with exposure to contaminated rodent waste. Officials are working to determine the source and extent of the outbreak.

Hantavirus infections can lead to severe respiratory illness, and while human-to-human transmission is considered uncommon, precautions are being taken as investigations continue.

The vessel was reportedly traveling from Argentina toward Cape Verde at the time of the outbreak. Authorities have not yet released further details on the condition of other passengers.
