BEIRUT / SOUTH LEBANON: Fresh airstrikes by Israel have killed at least 12 people, including a child, in southern Lebanon—raising urgent questions over the stability of the ongoing ceasefire.

Deadly strikes hit multiple areas, including Habboush in the Nabatieh district, where entire residential blocks were reduced to rubble. Emergency teams continue searching for survivors amid widespread destruction.

“Neighborhoods Flattened”

Rescue officials described the scene as devastating, with buildings completely destroyed and civilians trapped under debris. Casualties include women and children, as attacks reportedly struck several locations across southern Lebanon within hours.

Ceasefire Under Pressure

Despite a US-brokered truce still officially in place, hostilities show no signs of slowing. Authorities report that thousands have already been killed since early March, with the death toll continuing to rise daily.

Israel says its operations target Hezbollah positions, but a significant number of victims are reported to be civilians.

Evacuations and Escalation

Residents in targeted areas were ordered to evacuate shortly before some strikes, while others were hit without warning—fueling panic and uncertainty across the region.

Meanwhile, Hezbollah claims to have launched retaliatory attacks against Israeli military targets, signaling the risk of further escalation.

Region on Edge

With violence intensifying and trust in the ceasefire fading, fears are growing of a broader conflict that could destabilize the region even further.
