Iran Sends Response to US Peace Proposal as Ships Resume Crossing Strait of Hormuz
Iran has reportedly sent its official response to a US-backed peace proposal aimed at ending the ongoing conflict, according to Iranian state media.
The response was delivered through Pakistan, which is acting as a mediator between Tehran and Washington.
Iranian media said the proposal focused on ending the war across multiple fronts, including Lebanon, while also addressing security and shipping concerns in the Strait of Hormuz.
The development came as two commercial vessels were allowed to safely cross the strategic waterway after weeks of disruption linked to the conflict.
One of the ships, the QatarEnergy-operated LNG carrier Al Kharaitiyat, successfully passed through the strait and headed toward Pakistan’s Port Qasim, marking the first Qatari gas shipment to transit the route since the war began earlier this year.
Iran’s semi-official Tasnim News Agency also reported that a Panama-flagged cargo ship traveling to Brazil crossed the strait using a route approved by Iranian armed forces.
Despite the diplomatic progress, regional tensions remain high after hostile drones were reportedly detected over several Gulf countries in recent days.
There has been no immediate official response from the United States regarding Iran’s proposal.
