Britons Evacuated From Hantavirus Cruise Ship Return to UK on Repatriation Flight
A repatriation flight carrying British passengers evacuated from the virus-hit MV Hondius cruise ship has departed from Tenerife and is now heading back to the UK.
Authorities confirmed around 20 passengers were onboard the special flight following the hantavirus outbreak linked to the expedition cruise vessel.
After landing in Britain, passengers will reportedly be transferred to Arrowe Park Hospital in Merseyside, where health officials will monitor them for 72 hours before requiring a 45-day isolation period.
The evacuation followed tight health and security measures as officials attempted to contain the outbreak onboard the cruise ship.
Hantavirus is a rare but potentially serious disease often linked to exposure to infected rodents.
