The Devil Wears Prada 2’ Beats ‘Mortal Kombat II’ at Weekend Box Office
The Devil Wears Prada 2 narrowly beat Mortal Kombat II at the North American box office this weekend, continuing its strong theatrical run.
According to studio estimates, “The Devil Wears Prada 2” earned $43 million in its second weekend, while “Mortal Kombat II” debuted with $40 million across US and Canadian theaters.
The fashion-comedy sequel has now grossed more than $433 million worldwide in just 12 days, surpassing the global total of the original 2006 film.
Industry analysts said the film benefited from strong female audiences and Mother’s Day weekend momentum, while “Mortal Kombat II” attracted mostly male moviegoers.
Meanwhile, Michael continued performing strongly in third place, while family mystery film The Sheep Detectives and Billie Eilish—Hit Me Hard & Soft: The Tour (Live in 3D) rounded out the top five.
