ITHACA, NEW YORK: Michael Kotlikoff has said he was subjected to “harassment and intimidation” during a confrontation with protesters outside a campus event at Cornell University.
The incident occurred after a discussion on the Middle East crisis, where multiple student groups had gathered. According to Kotlikoff, demonstrators followed him to his vehicle, surrounded it, and continued recording despite requests to stop.
Video circulating online appears to show the university president reversing his car and making contact with at least one protester. Kotlikoff stated that he waited for space and exited the area slowly using safety features on the vehicle.
Student activist groups, however, have disputed his account, alleging that the vehicle made contact with individuals during the incident. They said one person received on-site medical attention and expressed concerns following the confrontation.
Investigation Underway
University officials confirmed that an investigation has been launched to review the circumstances. A spokesperson said the institution would take appropriate action based on findings and in accordance with campus policies.
The incident has drawn attention amid ongoing campus debates over international issues, highlighting tensions between student groups and university leadership.
