A critical round of negotiations between the United States and Iran has ended without a final agreement, raising fresh concerns about rising tensions in the region.

US Vice President JD Vance confirmed that after extended discussions lasting more than 20 hours, both sides failed to bridge key differences — particularly on the issue of nuclear assurances, which Washington had strongly pushed for.

While the US side signaled a clear pause in progress, Iran offered a more cautious outlook. Officials indicated that talks have not completely broken down and may continue through technical-level engagement.

According to sources familiar with the mediation process in Pakistan, the discussions saw noticeable shifts in tone, with moments of progress followed by renewed disagreements on sensitive matters.

Senior representatives from both countries participated in the talks, including key diplomatic figures who held multiple rounds of discussions during the Islamabad meetings.

Iranian officials later suggested that the process is now moving toward a more detailed phase, where expert teams will work on written proposals aimed at narrowing existing gaps.

Among the broader issues reportedly under discussion are regional security concerns, economic considerations, and strategic matters linked to critical trade routes.

Despite the absence of a breakthrough, both sides appear to be leaving the door open for future engagement, though no clear timeline has been announced for the next round.
