Singer **Taylor Swift has filed applications in the United States to trademark her voice and image, as concerns grow over the misuse of artificial intelligence in generating unauthorized content.
According to reports, the filings include visual and audio elements linked to Swift’s public identity. These feature an image from her Eras Tour performance—showing her in a signature sparkly outfit with a guitar—as well as audio clips of her introducing herself while promoting her latest project.
The move follows a series of incidents involving AI-generated content targeting the artist, including manipulated images, promotional deepfakes, and altered visuals circulating online.
Legal experts say the filings aim to strengthen protections against unauthorized use of her likeness. Trademark attorney Josh Gerben noted that while sound trademarks are not new, registering spoken voice through specific audio clips is still relatively untested in US courts.
He added that such filings could provide an additional legal layer, allowing challenges not only against exact copies but also against content that closely imitates a recognizable voice or image.
The image-based applications are also expected to help address manipulated visuals by protecting distinctive features associated with Swift’s public appearances.
The development reflects growing efforts by public figures to safeguard their identity in an era of rapidly advancing AI-generated media.
