Pakistan has warned of a widening regional crisis stretching from Gaza to the Strait of Hormuz, calling for urgent diplomacy and restraint amid escalating tensions in the Middle East.

Speaking at the UN Security Council, Pakistan’s Permanent Representative **Asim Iftikhar Ahmad said the situation across the region remains highly volatile, with multiple interconnected conflicts posing risks to international peace and security.

He emphasized the need for strict adherence to international law, the UN Charter, and Security Council resolutions, urging all parties to exercise restraint and prioritize dialogue.

The envoy stressed that the Palestinian issue remains central to regional stability, warning that despite a ceasefire in Gaza, conditions on the ground remain fragile with ongoing violations.

He noted that hundreds of Palestinians have been killed in continued strikes since the ceasefire announcement, adding that humanitarian assistance remains insufficient to meet urgent needs.

Ahmad also raised concerns over the deteriorating situation in the **West Bank, citing increased settler violence, expansion of settlements, and legislative actions that he described as violations of international law.

Highlighting broader regional risks, he pointed to the impact of tensions in the **Strait of Hormuz, warning that disruptions in key maritime routes are affecting global economic stability, including Pakistan’s economy.

The ambassador reiterated Pakistan’s support for diplomatic engagement, noting ongoing efforts to facilitate dialogue and reduce tensions.

He concluded by stating that a just and lasting resolution to the Palestinian issue, including the establishment of a Palestinian state, remains essential for long-term peace in the region.
