Ishaq Dar held a phone conversation with Sergey Lavrov to discuss rescheduling Shehbaz Sharif’s planned visit to Russia.
The visit was earlier postponed due to heightened regional tensions following recent developments involving Iran.
Both sides emphasized the importance of maintaining high-level diplomatic engagement and agreed to coordinate new dates for the visit at a mutually suitable time.
During the discussion, the two leaders also reviewed bilateral ties and cooperation at international platforms, particularly in efforts to support global peace and security.
Lavrov acknowledged Pakistan’s role in facilitating dialogue between Iran and the United States, highlighting Islamabad’s contribution to diplomatic efforts in the region.
Dar reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to promoting dialogue and peaceful resolution of conflicts, stressing the country’s continued focus on diplomacy.
The deputy prime minister also invited his Russian counterpart to visit Pakistan, with both sides agreeing to stay in close contact to further strengthen cooperation.
