The Punjab government has re-introduced free Wi-Fi service to the public in Lahore, aiming to boost connectivity across the city.
Initially launched during the tenure of former Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif, the project was discontinued in 2021 under the PTI government. However, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz announced the revival of the initiative after her party assumed power in the province last month.
Currently, the free Wi-Fi service is accessible at 50 locations in Lahore, with plans to expand the coverage to additional areas of the city. These locations include public places, educational institutions, and hospitals such as Hussain Chowk, Mazing Adda, Map Stop, Kotha Pind Stop, Shadman Chowk, and MM Alam Road.
The initiative aims to provide easy access to the Internet, promote connectivity and facilitate connectivity for residents and visitors alike across Lahore.
