Egypt's astronomers announced the expected dates of Eid al-Adha and Hajj moon

Egypt's National Institute for Astronomical and Geophysical Research has predicted that the Dhul-Hijjah moon will rise on Thursday, June 6 at 2:39 a.m. Cairo time.

A report issued by the institute explained that the first day of Eid al-Adha 2024 in Egypt will be on Sunday, June 16, 2024, while Waqf Arafa will be on June 15. Thus the month of Dhul Hajj will begin on Friday 7th June 2024.

However, according to the National Research Institute, the final opinion can be established only after the date of Eid-ul-Adha is determined by Saudi Arabia.

Regarding the sighting of the moon in the month of Dhul Hijj 1445 AH, the agency explained that the new moon will remain in the sky of Makkah for 11 minutes and in Cairo for 18 minutes after sunset. In other areas of Egypt, the new crescent will be visible between 12 and 20 minutes.

It should be remembered that Eid-ul-Fitr was celebrated on the same day in Pakistan and Saudi Arabia.
