The doors of parliamentary politics were closed on PTI

The doors of parliamentary politics have been closed on Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf after the electoral symbol was snatched away before the general elections.

According to Rules 94 of the Election Rules 2017, in the upcoming elections, the independent candidates will be able to join the same political party which has been issued the election symbol by the Election Commission. According to the rules, independent candidates of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf will not be able to join Tehreek-e-Insaaf in case of success

The election symbol was withdrawn from Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf for not conducting the intra-party election in accordance with the party constitution and after the decision of the Supreme Court, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf is out of the election race. The candidates of the party are participating in the elections as independents.



According to section 94 of the Election Rules 2017, an independent candidate shall declare his affiliation to a political party within 3 days. means a political party which has been issued an election symbol by the Election Commission and is defined as follows:


(For the purpose of this rule, the expression "political party" means a political party to which a symbol has been allocated by the Commission)


On the other hand, former minister of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Taimur Saleem Jhagra has said that he is aware of the rules but is considering alternative options.


On the other hand, the final list of candidates for minority seats in the National Assembly has been released.
