Britain has declared that it is fully prepared to defend itself after Iran warned there would be "consequences" for countries allowing the United States to use their military bases during the escalating conflict in the Middle East.
The warning came after Prime Minister Andy Burnham reaffirmed Britain's policy of allowing U.S. forces to use British bases for what London describes as defensive military operations aimed at countering threats to international shipping and regional security.
Tehran Issues Direct Warning
Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) warned that any country providing military facilities for attacks against Iran could face retaliation. British facilities, including RAF Fairford, have been mentioned in Iranian statements after reports that U.S. bombers operated from UK territory.
The warning marks one of Tehran's strongest messages toward Britain since the conflict intensified.
