Trump to Focus on Election Security Claims in Primetime National Address

WASHINGTON — President Donald Trump is expected to make election security and voting-related claims the centerpiece of a rare primetime national address on Thursday evening, returning to an issue that has remained central to his political messaging since the 2020 presidential election.
According to White House officials, Trump plans to discuss election integrity, voting machines and recently declassified intelligence concerning alleged foreign interference in the 2020 election. However, administration officials have not publicly released evidence showing that voting systems altered election results.
The speech comes just months before the 2026 U.S. midterm elections, with control of Congress at stake. Trump has also continued to support stricter voter identification and citizenship verification measures through the SAVE America Act and other election-related proposals.
Trump has repeatedly argued that the 2020 election suffered from significant irregularities. Numerous court rulings, state recounts, ballot audits and federal election officials have previously concluded they found no evidence of widespread fraud that would have changed the outcome of the election.
The planned address has already drawn sharp political reactions. Supporters say the president has the right to present his concerns about election security, while critics argue the speech could revive claims that have been extensively disputed and increase political tensions ahead of November's elections.
White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt has described the address as significant but has disclosed few details about its contents. It remains unclear whether major television networks will carry the speech live.
