Washington says Hezbollah attacks threaten fragile US-backed ceasefire efforts

Washington/Beiruit : The United States Department of State has accused Hezbollah of attempting to derail ongoing diplomacy between Lebanon and Israel as tensions continue to escalate along the border.

US State Department spokesperson Pigott told Al Jazeera that Washington remains focused on creating conditions for “good-faith conversations” between the Lebanese and Israeli governments despite growing violence in the region.

Pigott claimed Hezbollah is undermining peace efforts through attacks inside Israel as well as threats within Lebanon, warning that the path toward stability remains difficult but diplomatic engagement is still ongoing.

The remarks come as Israeli strikes in Lebanon intensify, raising fears that the fragile US-brokered ceasefire could collapse and trigger a wider regional confrontation across the Middle East.
