UAE hit by missile strike as tensions escalate and US moves to control key shipping route

TEHRAN / GULF REGION: Iran has reportedly launched a major escalation, firing missiles toward the United Arab Emirates while also targeting a United States warship near the Strait of Hormuz.Reports indicate around 15 missiles were launched toward the UAE, with additional drone activity causing a fire at a fuel facility. At the same time, Iranian media claimed two missiles struck near a US naval vessel after it ignored warnings to stay out of the region.

Iranian authorities say their forces blocked US warships from entering the strategic waterway, a key route for global oil shipments.

US President Donald Trump has announced plans to begin escorting ships through the strait, calling it a humanitarian mission. However, Iran has warned that such actions would violate the ceasefire and could trigger a stronger response.Trump has also warned that any interference with US operations would be met with force, raising fears of a wider confrontation.

🌍 Global Impact Risk

The Strait of Hormuz handles a major share of the world’s oil supply, and any escalation in the region could have immediate global economic consequences.
