A federal Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officer accused of shooting a man during a controversial immigration enforcement operation in Minneapolis has been arrested in Texas, marking a major development in one of the most closely watched law enforcement cases of the year.

Authorities identified the officer as Christian Castro, who faces multiple assault charges and an additional charge of falsely reporting a crime. Prosecutors allege Castro fired shots through a residential door during an operation earlier this year, injuring a man inside and putting others in the home at risk.

The case became highly controversial after investigators reportedly challenged the original account of the incident. Earlier allegations that the occupants had attacked officers were later dropped, leading to a wider review of officer conduct during the immigration crackdown operation.

Minnesota prosecutors say the arrest is a significant step toward accountability, while federal immigration officials have previously defended their personnel and questioned aspects of the state investigation. The legal battle is expected to continue as prosecutors seek additional evidence and court proceedings move forward.
