Three Passengers Evacuated From Virus-Hit Cruise

Spanish authorities have confirmed that three passengers, including a British national, were evacuated from the cruise ship MV Hondius after a deadly hantavirus outbreak raised international concern.

The situation intensified after another suspected case was identified involving a man currently hospitalized in Switzerland, increasing fears over the spread of the rare virus among passengers.

Spain Says Remaining Passengers Show No Symptoms

Spanish Health Minister Monica Garcia said all passengers currently aboard the vessel remain asymptomatic despite growing concern surrounding the outbreak.

According to Spanish officials, the cruise ship will continue its journey toward the Canary Islands once health authorities complete safety evaluations and clearance procedures.

Quarantine and Isolation Measures Underway

Authorities confirmed that passengers showing no symptoms will later be repatriated to their home countries. However, anyone displaying signs linked to hantavirus infection will remain under strict medical observation.

Spanish passengers onboard will reportedly be transferred to a military hospital in Madrid, where they will undergo medical examinations and isolation protocols as a precautionary measure.

Global Health Agencies Closely Monitoring Situation

The outbreak has drawn international attention ahead of a scheduled World Health Organization briefing, with health agencies monitoring the situation closely due to hantavirus’ potentially deadly nature.

Medical experts say hantavirus infections are rare but can become severe, particularly if respiratory complications develop.
