Islamabad - Washington: The United States and Iran are expected to resume diplomatic talks later this week, despite rising tensions following a U.S. military blockade targeting Iranian ports.

Sources familiar with the negotiations indicate that delegations from both sides may return to Islamabad for another round of discussions aimed at ending the ongoing conflict.

The latest development comes after high-level talks over the weekend concluded without a breakthrough, casting uncertainty over a fragile two-week ceasefire.

While the blockade triggered strong reactions from Tehran, signs of continued diplomatic engagement helped ease pressure on global oil markets, with prices showing signs of stabilization.

Officials suggest that both Washington and Tehran are considering fresh proposals, and tentative plans are being discussed to reconvene talks between Friday and Sunday, although no final schedule has been confirmed.

Donald Trump stated that Iran has shown interest in reaching an agreement but reiterated that any deal would not permit Tehran to develop nuclear weapons.

The broader conflict, which escalated in late February, has significantly impacted global trade routes, particularly the strategically vital Strait of Hormuz, through which a major portion of the world’s oil supply passes.

In response to U.S. actions, Iran has warned of potential retaliation and increased restrictions on maritime movement in the region, raising concerns over further escalation.

Despite the tensions, limited shipping activity has continued in the area, signaling that the situation remains volatile but not fully escalated.
