US President Donald Trump has announced that Israel and Lebanon have agreed to a 10-day ceasefire, raising hopes of easing regional tensions linked to the wider Iran conflict.
According to Trump, the ceasefire will begin at 5pm EST following discussions with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Lebanese President Joseph Aoun. He said both sides are willing to move toward peace.
The development comes amid ongoing diplomatic efforts to prevent further escalation, as global markets react to uncertainty surrounding energy supplies and the Strait of Hormuz.
While optimism is growing, key issues — including Iran’s nuclear programme and long-term security guarantees — remain unresolved.
