London: The 22-year-old youngest member of parliament was elected in the British general election.

According to the British broadcaster BBC, Sam Carling of the Labor Party who won the election was elected the youngest member of Parliament.

Born in 2002, Sam Carling is a science graduate from Cambridge University.

Labour's Sam Carling defeated Shailesh Vara of the Conservative Party by 39 votes in the recent election.

Newly elected parliamentarian Sam Carling called his victory a political earthquake and said he hoped more young people would come forward by joining politics.

According to the British Broadcasting Corporation, the youngest Member of Parliament is given the title of Baby of the House.

The previous youngest MP was Oxford University graduate Labor MP Kier Mather, who won the Selby and Anstey by-election in 2023.

It should be noted that the results of all the seats in the British general elections have been announced. The Labor Party has won 412 seats, the Conservative Party has won 121 seats, and the Lib Dem has won 72 seats.

According to the results of the London general election, the turnout in this year's elections was the lowest in more than 20 years.

After declaration of results for all 650 seats, the turnout is 59.9 percent. In 2019, the turnout was 67.3 percent, while the turnout in the 2001 general elections was 59.4 percent.
