The cover of the Kaaba is changed at the beginning of the new Islamic year
The cover of the Kaaba has been changed in a solemn ceremony to mark the beginning of the new Islamic year in Saudi Arabia.
The new Hijri (Islamic) year has begun in Saudi Arabia. With the announcement of the beginning of the new year, the cover of the Kaaba in Masjid al-Haram was changed.
According to Akhbar 24, the General Authority for the Affairs of the Holy Shrines changed the cover of the Kaaba at the beginning of the new year. A grand ceremony was organized in this regard which continued throughout the night. Meanwhile, the old cover was removed from the Kaaba and a new cover was installed.
159 technicians and artisans participated in this process. Spiritual scenes, the circumambulation of the Kaaba continued even during the change of cover.
Earlier, the new Kaaba was transported from Kiswah Fekdi to Masjid al-Haram Makkah through a 13 km long trailer.
670 kg of raw silk and 120 kg of gold thread were used in the preparation of the cover of the Kaaba. It weighs 1350 kg and is 98 cm wide and 14 m high.
At the King Abdulaziz Complex for the Holy Kaaba Kiswah in Makkah, more than 200 craftsmen and organizers prepare the Kaaba cover.
