NAB collected important evidence in the 190 million pound case against Imran Khan
ISLAMABAD: Sources in the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) have claimed that during the recent raid on the Bahria Town offices, they have recovered crucial evidence related to various cases, including the 190 million pounds N.B. against Imran Khan. Evidence related to the CA settlement scandal is also included.
An informed source told The News that the evidence collected by the NAB during the raid is very important and related to various cases including the case involving the UK's National Crime Agency.
The Bureau is currently examining various aspects of the evidence collected from the Bahria Town offices. The source said that some documents are being examined from different aspects, the relevance of these evidences in different cases against different persons is being evaluated. When he was asked whether the evidence collected against Imran Khan regarding the 190 million pounds scam will be presented in the accountability court in the Al-Qadir Trust case, the sources said that no decision has been taken in this regard at present.
He said that the prosecution is quite satisfied with the evidence that has already been presented in the accountability court in the Al-Qadir Trust case (also known as the £190 million NCA Corruption Reference) against Imran Khan, Bushra Bibi and others.
Currently, the accountability court is recording the statements of the prosecution witnesses in the case in Adiala jail where Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi are imprisoned. On Wednesday, the accountability court recorded the statement of former defense minister Pervez Khattak in Adiala jail.
Pervez Khattak told the court that former Prime Minister Imran Khan's Special Assistant on Accountability Shahzad Akbar had told the then cabinet that huge money allegedly being illegally transferred from Pakistan to Britain had been seized.
Pervaiz Khattak said that the documents related to the transfer of 190 million pounds to Pakistan by NCA were presented to Imran Khan's cabinet in a sealed envelope and approval was obtained from the cabinet as an additional item. About 31 witnesses have recorded their statements and have been cross-examined.
A few weeks ago, a NAB team raided the Bahria Town offices in Rawalpindi and Islamabad in connection with the Al-Qadir Trust University case and the £190 million NCA settlement scam and seized all the records of the company.
In the raid, Punjab Police and elite force teams laid siege to the Bahria Town offices as the NAB team was examining the documents and records collected during the raid.
According to media reports, the NAB team also questioned the staff of the housing society in the office regarding the records of Al-Qadir Trust University and the 190 million pounds case, later the NAB team sealed the company's offices.
Reacting to the raid, Bahria Town Chairman Malik Riaz had said on the micro-blogging site "X" (formerly Twitter) that he would bear all the hardships and would not become a "royal witness".
