America has once again emphasized on Pakistan to fulfill its constitutional and international obligations.
During the press briefing at the White House, the spokesperson of the US Department of State, Matthew Miller, said that the government of Pakistan should fulfill its constitutional and international obligations, freedom of expression and the rights of peaceful assembly should be respected in Pakistan.
US State Department spokesperson Matthew Miller avoided commenting on the resolution passed in the US House of Representatives regarding Pakistan's recent elections during a press briefing.
It should be noted that the US Congress yesterday passed a resolution refusing to recognize Pakistan's recent elections as free and fair. There were 368 votes in favor of the resolution and only 7 votes against it.
In the text of the resolution, it was said that an independent and impartial investigation of the election should be conducted, the interruption in the Internet and telecommunication facilities is condemnable, an independent investigation should be conducted into the claims of interference and irregularities in the February 8 election, the people should be informed in the democratic process. We condemn efforts to suppress the public to prevent participation.
