Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has criticized senior U.S. envoys for failing to visit Kyiv, describing their repeated trips to Moscow as “disrespectful” amid ongoing efforts to resolve the war in Ukraine.

Zelensky’s remarks come after U.S. officials, including Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, held multiple meetings in Moscow with Russian leadership but did not make an official visit to Ukraine.

The envoys have engaged in discussions with Russian President Vladimir Putin as part of broader ceasefire negotiations, visiting the Russian capital several times over recent months.

“It’s disrespectful to come to Moscow and not Kyiv,” Zelensky said in a recent interview, questioning the balance of diplomatic engagement.

While acknowledging logistical challenges, the Ukrainian president emphasized that alternative meeting arrangements could have been made if a direct visit to Kyiv was not possible.

The criticism reflects growing unease in Ukraine over the direction of international diplomacy, particularly as efforts to end the conflict continue without direct on-ground engagement with Ukrainian leadership.

Earlier this month, there were indications that U.S. envoys might visit Ukraine, but those plans did not materialize amid shifting global priorities, including rising tensions in the Middle East.

The situation highlights the complex geopolitical landscape, where diplomatic focus is increasingly divided across multiple global conflicts.
