WASHINGTON / ISLAMABAD:
Donald Trump has praised Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff Asim Munir, calling him a “fantastic” military leader for his role in facilitating talks between the United States and Iran.
In a recent interview, Trump said Munir was doing a “great job” in efforts to bring both sides back to dialogue, adding that Pakistan could host the next round of negotiations in the coming days.
Pakistan has emerged as a key mediator following a temporary ceasefire between Washington and Tehran earlier this month. High-level delegations from both countries recently held extended talks in Islamabad, though no formal agreement was reached.
Trump also commended Pakistan’s leadership, including Shehbaz Sharif, for their role in hosting the dialogue and supporting diplomatic efforts to ease tensions.
Officials in Islamabad have reaffirmed their commitment to continue facilitating negotiations, despite challenges in reaching a breakthrough during the latest round of talks.
