Shehbaz Sharif and Asim Munir held a high-level meeting to review Pakistan’s ongoing efforts to mediate between the United States and Iran, as Islamabad prepares to host key negotiations this weekend.

According to an official statement, the two leaders discussed the progress made so far in facilitating dialogue aimed at achieving lasting peace in the region. They expressed satisfaction over recent de-escalation and emphasized the importance of maintaining ceasefire conditions among all parties involved.

Pakistan’s leadership reaffirmed its commitment to playing a constructive role in promoting peace, highlighting its readiness to support both sides in reaching a negotiated settlement. The Prime Minister also welcomed the incoming delegations and assured them of full cooperation during their stay in Islamabad.

The meeting comes at a crucial time as tensions remain high following recent conflict in the region, which has impacted global energy markets and regional stability. Analysts believe Islamabad’s role as a mediator could be key in easing tensions and paving the way for meaningful negotiations between Washington and Tehran.
