Netanyahu Announces Direct Talks With Lebanon Focused on Disarming Hezbollah

By Sky Global News Desk

Benjamin Netanyahu has announced that Israel will begin direct negotiations with Lebanon, focusing on disarming Hezbollah and improving relations between the two countries.

According to Netanyahu, the decision was made after what he described as repeated requests from Lebanon to open direct talks. He stated that Israel is ready to begin negotiations “as soon as possible” in an effort to address key security concerns and explore the possibility of peaceful relations.

The proposed discussions are expected to center on the disarmament of Hezbollah, a major political and military force in Lebanon that has long been at the center of tensions with Israel. Netanyahu also indicated that Israel welcomes recent calls from Lebanese leadership regarding demilitarization efforts in Beirut.

So far, Lebanese officials have not publicly responded to Netanyahu’s announcement, leaving uncertainty over how quickly such talks could move forward. Analysts say the development could mark a significant shift in regional diplomacy if both sides agree to engage directly.
