KARACHI: Two young sisters lost their lives and a boy was injured in a tragic road accident in Nazimabad No. 1 late Monday night, after they fell off a motorcycle and were run over by a passing oil tanker, rescue officials and police confirmed.

According to initial police findings, the tanker did not directly collide with the motorcycle. Investigators believe the bike lost balance due to a damaged stretch of road, causing the two sisters to fall onto the road, where they were fatally struck by the tanker.

Senior Superintendent of Police (Central) stated that both victims came under the heavy vehicle immediately after falling, leaving little chance for survival. Rescue teams rushed to the scene and shifted the victims to a nearby hospital, but both sisters succumbed to their injuries before receiving medical treatment.

Police identified the deceased as Easter and Angel, while the injured boy sustained minor injuries. The motorcycle was reported to have suffered minimal damage.

The tanker driver, identified as Maroof Shah, initially fled the scene but was later arrested. Authorities have also taken the vehicle into custody and launched further investigation into the incident.

RISING SAFETY CONCERNS

The incident has once again highlighted growing concerns over road safety in Karachi, particularly the movement of heavy vehicles in densely populated areas. Residents have repeatedly raised alarms about reckless driving and poor road conditions, which continue to result in fatal accidents.

SEPARATE INCIDENT

In another tragic accident near Benazir Chowk in Ibrahim Hyderi, a 10-year-old boy was killed after an unidentified vehicle struck a motorcycle. The victim, Abdul Mussawar, was shifted to Jinnah Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
