Canada has formally urged Israel to conduct a full and transparent investigation into the death of a Canadian citizen in southern Lebanon, as tensions surrounding the incident continue to grow.
Anita Anand confirmed that Canadian officials raised the matter directly with Israel’s ambassador, stressing the importance of clarity and accountability.
The victim, identified as Mohammad Hassan Haidar, was reportedly killed in April during an incident in the town of Qana. According to family members, he was attempting to assist an injured individual near his home when the attack occurred.

Israeli authorities have not publicly claimed responsibility for the strike, though officials have indicated that a review of the incident will be carried out.
Canadian diplomats have also engaged with Israel’s foreign ministry to reinforce the request, highlighting the seriousness of the situation and the need for a thorough investigation.
This marks the latest in a series of diplomatic concerns raised by Canada regarding incidents involving its citizens and officials in the region over the past year.
