Women’s bike rally in Karachi kicks off Independence Day celebrations

By Shahnoor Saqib

KARACHI: Provincial Minister for Local Government Saeed Ghani and Provincial Minister for Culture Zulfiqar Shah announced a series of events today in connection with Pakistan’s Independence Day, including a women’s bike rally organised by the Sindh government.

Speaking to the media, the ministers said the rally is aimed at encouraging women’s participation. The celebrations for the upcoming Independence Day will mark a continuation of Marka-e-Haq, Zulfiqar Shah said.

The initiative is part of a broader set of activities taking place across Sindh. These include cultural events that will highlight historical sites in the province. All government departments and local trade bodies are reportedly collaborating to support the events. “We will give prizes to those who nicely decorate their cars at home,” Shah added.

The public has been invited to contribute national songs, which the government will also help promote. A major poetry reading is scheduled for August 9 at the Expo Center, and a large-scale public event will be held on August 13 at the National Stadium in Karachi.

Minister Ghani called on citizens to display the national flag in visible locations as a sign of participation in the Independence Day celebrations.
