Police team reaches Adiala Jail for Imran Khan’s polygraph test

RAWALPINDI: A Lahore police investigation team, headed by DSP Asif Javed, has arrived at Adiala Jail on Monday to conduct forensic tests on the PTI founder Imran Khan in connection with May 9 cases. The team includes members from Punjab’s Forensic Unit and plans to conduct photogrammetric, polygraph, and voice matching tests.

Officials revealed that Imran Khan had previously submitted a written refusal to undergo these tests. DSP Javed Asif emphasised that the investigation cannot be completed without these forensic examinations. “Only after conducting these tests can we determine the veracity of evidence,” he told reporters outside the jail.

The DSP warned that the investigative process would remain stalled if the tests aren’t conducted. The team is investigating 11 cases registered in Lahore related to the May 9 violence, when military installations were attacked following the PTI chairman’s arrest.

The development comes amid ongoing legal proceedings against PTI leadership over 2023 violent protests. Authorities maintain the forensic tests are crucial for advancing the cases, while the PTI has consistently termed the May 9 cases as politically motivated.
