South Africa put 304 on board against New Zealand
New Zealand look to continue winning momentum after their first victory against Pakistan at same venue.
LAHORE: LAHORE: Guided by debuting Matthew Breetzke’s 150, South Africa scored 304 for 6 against New Zealand in the second match of the Tri-Nations Series at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore on Monday.
The Proteas opener made record for the highest score on ODI debut by anyone. "It hasn't sunk in yet and I'm a bit tired," the batter said after the first innings, with the hope for victory in the match.
"Hope we can get the win. That's the only thing on my mind. The pitch was tacky and O'Rourke was really tough to face. My mindset was to bat as long as possible and give myself a chance at the end. If we can strike with the ball in the powerplay and squeeze in the middle, we might have enough," he stated.
New Zealand sent South Africa in to bat first after winning the toss.
The first game of the series was won by New Zealand against the home side Pakistan at the same venue on Saturday.
In the New Zealand playing XI, Devon Conway has taken the place of Rachin Ravindra, who got wounded in the first match of the series as he misjudged a catch and took it to his face.
Whereas, four debutants Breetzke, Mihlali Mpongwana, Senuran Muthusamy and Eathan Bosch have been added to the South Africa squad.
