PM Shehbaz embarks on two-day official visit to Azerbaijan



During visit, PM to hold crucial bilateral meeting with Azeri President Ilham Aliyev

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif left for Azerbaijan on a two-day official visit from Lahore, accompanied by a high-level delegation.

The visit, made at the invitation of Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, aims to strengthen bilateral relations and enhance cooperation in multiple sectors.

Prominent members of the delegation include Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, Federal Minister for Investment Board, Communications, and Privatization Abdul Aleem Khan, along with federal ministers Jam Kamal Khan, Attaullah Tarar, Chaudhry Salik Hussain, and Special Assistant Tariq Fatemi. 

During his visit, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif will hold a crucial bilateral meeting with President Ilham Aliyev. The discussions will focus on cooperation in key areas such as energy, trade, defence, education, and climate change. The visit is expected to pave the way for increased collaboration between the two nations.

Additionally, the PM is scheduled to address a business forum in Azerbaijan, where he will highlight investment opportunities and economic partnerships between the two countries.

Multiple Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) and agreements aimed at strengthening ties across various sectors are expected to be signed between the sides during the visit. The agreements will facilitate increased trade and investment while fostering deeper economic and strategic cooperation.

This marks Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif's second visit to Azerbaijan since assuming office in March 2024. Officials from both sides have expressed optimism that the visit will lead to meaningful partnerships and further enhance Pakistan-Azerbaijan relations.
