"There is no threat to the government", the law minister called the decision of the Supreme Court political
ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Law Senator Azam Nazir Tarar termed the Supreme Court's decision regarding specific seats as political and said that relief was sought by Sunni Unity Council but the court gave it to PTI.
While giving a press conference in Islamabad, Prime Minister Nazir Tarar said that there is no threat to the government from the decision of the Supreme Court, we still have a majority of 209 members.
He said that even today those senators who were declared independent by the decision of the Supreme Court are listed as independent. Elected as an independent and joins the Sunni Alliance Council.
He further said that it was revealed in the hearing that minorities cannot be included in the Sunni Ittehad Council, so perhaps this way was made. 80 people never came and stood in the Supreme Court saying that they belong to the PTI and why should they join the Sunni Ittehad. Instead, these 80 members said they belonged to the Sunni Unity Council and that was their identity.
The federal minister said that the interpretation of the constitution is the authority of the court, but now the matter has gone beyond the constitutional interpretation, Article 51 of the constitution has been rewritten, as a law student, I will take into account the dignity of the court, the federal government But it will be decided by the cabinet whether to appeal or not, as the law minister I will reserve my opinion on the revision, the coalition parties have to decide whether to file the revision or not.
Azam Nazir Tarar said that he still did not understand which jurisdiction was used by the Supreme Court, the court cannot use the authority of Article 187 in this way. There are constitutional and legal flaws that will continue to be debated.
He said that he will not mix the constitutional issue with politics, the full majority of the government also approved the budget, the government coalition had decided to make some reforms, there is a need to make many reforms including the accountability of judges, a judge. If one decides 35, 40 cases in a day, if the other does not, is this not a misconduct? A judge's duty is to focus on the common man for whom the system is designed, the whole trend is towards political parties.
The Law Minister said that today's decision is a political decision, decisions are being made according to the debates that are going on on TV, decisions should be in accordance with the constitution and law, if the court decides what has not been asked for, then it is for me. It is painful, relief was sought from the court by Sunni Unity Council but it was given to PTI, PTI was neither petitioner in the case nor did they seek relief.
He said that the Supreme Court is looking at the contents of the decision, there is a law related to specific seats, the seats should have gone to the Sunni Ittehad Council, PTI was not a party in the case, the independent members of PTI won. After not approaching any forum, they should not get minority seats as per the Manifesto of Sunni Ittehad Council.
He said that the independent members of PTI never said that their party should be given specific seats, the Sunni Unity Council does not accept non-Muslims as its members, the independent members of PTI were of the opinion that the reserved seats should be given to the Sunni Unity Council. should be given, there is no example of the jurisdiction of the court decision, confusion and questions have arisen due to the court decision, PTI has got the relief it did not ask for.
