Prisoner deal with Hamas closer than ever, Israel
The Israeli Defense Minister has said that a deal to release prisoners from Hamas is closer than ever.
Israeli Defense Minister Yves Galant has told a group of families of prisoners of war in the Gaza Strip that an agreement to return their loved ones is closer than ever, Israeli broadcaster Channel 12 reported.
His comments came amid renewed efforts for a possible ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hamas. Earlier today, Hamas said it had presented a new proposal to Egyptian and Qatari negotiators that had been presented to Israel.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu will reportedly convene a cabinet meeting later today to discuss the matter.
