According to the spokesperson of the Foreign Office, Pakistan and India exchanged lists of prisoners in each other's custody through diplomatic channels. The lists are exchanged under the Consular Access Agreement of 2008.

According to the spokesperson, the missing officials are believed to be in the custody of India since the wars of 1965 and 1971.
