According to a foreign news agency, in the second phase (run-off) of the Iranian presidential election, the reformist candidate Masoud Al-Mabzikian was elected the new president with 1.63 million votes, while his opponent, the reactionary Saeed Jalili, was able to get 1.35 million votes.

The Iranian Ministry of Interior, while announcing the victory of Masoud Al-Badzikian, said that Masoud Al-Badzikian has won the majority of votes.

In his victory speech, the doctor said that we are all citizens of this country and we will extend the hand of friendship to everyone.

On the other hand, Saeed Jalili, the opposing candidate of the doctors, said after the defeat that the one who was elected by the people, we should respect him and we should support them (doctors) with all our strength so that they move forward strongly.

Masoud Al-Mukishian is a former surgeon and lawmaker, and he wants good relations with the West.

69-year-old Masoud Al-Badishian is a heart surgeon who was the Minister of Health and Medical Education in the second reformist government, a 5-time member of the Iranian Parliament and a one-time vice president.

Masoud Al-Mabzikian was born in Mahabad, Iran, studied medicine at Tabriz University before the Islamic Revolution of Iran.

Masoud Al-Badzikian suffered the death of his wife and one child in a car accident in 1994. After the death of his wife, he raised two sons and a daughter and did not remarry.
