Frozen body of missing American mountaineer found after 22 years
Peru: The frozen body of the American mountaineer who went missing 22 years ago was found on the mountain, the clothes and shoes of the deceased mountaineer were also in safe condition.
According to the report of the foreign news agency, American mountaineer William Stampfel was hit by an avalanche 22 years ago during an expedition along with his team at the snowy peak Cordillera Blanca range.
The accident occurred at an altitude of 22,000 feet, as a result of which the climber was buried in the same place.
In this regard, the Peruvian police say that the body of the American mountaineer was found after the snow melted on the Cordillera Blanca range, he was identified by his passport lying next to the body.
According to the photos released by the police, the body of the American mountaineer along with his clothes and shoes were also in a safe condition due to the cold weather.
William Stampfel went on the expedition with two other climbers in the team, Steve Erskine and Matthew Richardson, Steve's body was found earlier, but Matthew's remains have not been found.
It should be remembered that earlier in May this year, the body of an Israeli mountaineer was found in the same area almost a month after he went missing.
