Pakistan’s white-ball captain, Babar Azam, is on the verge of breaking a major T20I record
currently held by Indian star batter Virat Kohli in the upcoming series against England.
Kohli is the highest run-scorer in T20I history with 4,037 runs in 109 innings. Azam needs just 83 runs to surpass this record.
Currently, Azam is third on the list of highest T20I run-scorers with 3,955 runs, trailing behind Kohli and Indian captain Rohit Sharma, who has 3,974 runs.
The four-match T20I series against England presents a prime opportunity for Azam to break the record and become the first Pakistani batter to score 4,000 T20I runs.
In addition to his batting prowess, Azam is the most successful T20I captain with 46 victories and holds the record for most runs scored as a captain in T20I cricket. With 2,452 runs as captain, he needs just 48 more to become the first to reach 2,500 runs in this role.
The Babar Azam-led Pakistan team will kick off the four-match T20I series against England on May 22 at Headingley, Leeds, concluding on May 30 at The Oval, London.
